Therapy for adults and couples in Portland

Four licensed clinicians meet with adults and couples in person in Portland, or by video if you are in Oregon. Your first session is a conversation about what you want from therapy.

Therapy at Tide is a working relationship. Your clinician listens first, explains the method before using it and checks with you on how it is going.

  • Listening first

Every session starts with what you want to talk about.

  • A named method

Your clinician names the approach they suggest and explains it before you decide.

  • Your pace

How often and how long is set with you, and can change.

What to expect

Your first session

A first session is a conversation, not a test. It lasts 50 minutes.

  • A laptop and an open notebook on a white desk under the shadow of a window on a peach wall

    Before you come

You get your fee in writing, and a link to our intake forms on our own portal. Please do not send medical details through this website.

    Intake forms on our portal
  • A corduroy sofa against a warm-lit wall beside a floor lamp

    The first conversation

We talk about what you want from therapy, what pace feels right and what you want to leave alone for now. You do not have to tell your story.

  • Backlit seedlings silhouetted against a white background

    How we would work

Your clinician explains the method, what it asks of you and what it can stir up, and then you decide.

  • A smiling woman with curly hair in a red patterned dress stands outdoors with her arms folded

    Before you leave

We agree on a next step and answer questions about fees and cancellation. You can ask to meet a different clinician if the fit is not right.

Common Questions

How long is a session?

A session is 50 minutes. Couples sessions run 80 minutes.

Is what I share private?

We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. Your clinician explains the limits in your first session, and you can ask about them before you book.

Do you take my insurance?

Some of our clinicians are in network with some plans. Fees, receipts for reimbursement and the Good Faith Estimate are on the How fees work page.

Do you offer video sessions?

Yes, for clients who are in Oregon, where our clinicians are licensed. Many people start in person and switch, or the other way around.

What happens in a first session?

We talk about what you want from therapy and what pace feels right. You do not have to tell your story. Your clinician explains how they would work, and you decide.
